French: For Love So Sweet Sterling Silver Ring - Inspirational Jewelry
Product Description
This ring is a replica of a handmade ring now in the Museum of London that dates to the mid-15th century. The original ring was made of gold, and inscribed in relief around the outside of the band in the period French spelling of the time. It was bezel set with a heart-shaped red spinel in four claws. Our adaptation has a garnet in place of the spinel; both are red to maintain the symbolism. The sentiment, 'for love so sweet', touches us today as it must have touched the owner of the original when she received it.
A faithful recreation of a ring that was excavated from the River Thames, inscribed in French: Pour amour say douc. Sterling Silver, Hand-set with a heart-shaped garnet
