The F4U Corsair is an American fighter-bomber aircraft that saw service primarily in World War II and the Korean War. The Corsair was designed as a carrier-based aircraft and had the distinctive inverted gull wing, but had carrier landing issues, so the Marine Corps deployed the Corsair to widespread and devastating effect from land bases.
