This elegant jewelry combines granulation beads, fresh water pearls and lapis beads set in decorative Bukhara caps. Bukhara, a province of Uzbek, was once a center for trade and gold mining, producing delicate gold beads. The popularity of fresh water pearls in the rich compositions of Russian jewelry and clothing is documented as far back as the 10th century. Fine fresh water pearls were once found in abundance in Russia's northern rivers and lapis lazuli, "sapphire of the ancients," could be found at Lake Baikal.
