Exact reproduction of 16th C. Mercator globe, hand applied paper gores. Decorative and well-executed globe from the age of exploration. Stand is detailed turned wood, walnut finish. Historically accurate, as part of the Musuem Company(tm) line of terrestrial and celestial globes from famous cartographers Mercator, Hondius, Vaugondy and Kaerius. Reproduction from the 16th - 17th centuries are nostalgic and decorative. When Louis XIV of France wanted globes for his flagship captains he complained about the exorbitant cost. There is no other company in the world offering authentic reproductions of this quality at the price level. Period.
