Ritual Dancers Brooch- Central Greece, 1400 B.C. Late Mycenean Period
Product Description
Classical Collection - The hourglass, as two connected triangles, is a symbol identified with the life-giving female form. With hands above their heads, these hourglass figures portray ritual dancers, common in funeral rites in Central Greece. The emphasis of the dance is believed to be on the energetic regeneration of life rather than mourning. The figurines represented in our jewelry were originally depicted on a sarcophagus dating to 1400 B.C
