This Lowcountry egret pin is adapted from the design of the Philip Simmons Gate, a 9' x 9' wrought iron gate made by Charleston Blacksmith, Philip Simmons. The South Carolina State Museum was able to commission the gate through funds provided by the Folk Arts Program of the National Endowment for the Arts and NCNB. Mr. Simmons has spent over sixty years creating forms from iron. This double gate features a Palmetto tree and two Lowcountry egrets.
