Product Description
These silver plated fluid moving earrings are inspired by Harry Bertoia's Diamond armchair. First manufactured in 1952, the welded steel rod construction of Harry Bertoia's Diamond armchair revolutionized modern seating. Its open frame-supporting a grid of smaller diamond shapes-glorified the use of a new industrial material while its graceful shape grew out of the designer's awareness of his own corporeality. Bertoia wrote about the design, "My feeling was that it had to come almost from an inward direction. I began to rely once more on my own body. The chairs are studies in space, form and metal, too." The continued success of the Diamond armchair is attributable to the seamless melding of aesthetics and practicality that was a cornerstone of the best mid-century American design.
