From our Museum Mint Collection: The New York Times Headline, Tuesday, April 16, 1912 reports the sinking of the White Star luxury liner the Titanic, one of the most studied disasters of the 20th century. An official reproduction of the front page, four genuine U.S. 1912 coins and a reproduction of a 1912 telegraph are displayed in a handsome wood display box . The New York Times was one of the first to report the sinking of the Titanic seen here in this official reproduction of the actual New York Times front page. This collection also contains genuine U.S. coins minted in 1912, a Lincoln Wheat Ear Penny, a Liberty Head Nickel, a Silver Barber Dime and a Silver Barber Quarter. The reproduction telegraph was sent to the White Star Liner Olympic. A Certificate of Authenticity is included.
