Frederic Francois Chopin (1810 -1849) was a Polish composer, virtuoso pianist, and music teacher. Known as the 'poet of the piano', he is considered one of the great masters of Romantic music. By age 20, Chopin had written some of the worlds best concertos, ballads, and preludes, which he spent the next two decades performing throughout Europe, his considerable talent continuously praised by critics and audiences alike. He died in 1849 from tuberculosis.
