African Collection - Fertility dolls, such as this Akuaba doll from the Ashanti tribe of Ghana in West Africa, are carried by pregnant women in their carrying cloth to ensure the birth of a beautiful and healthy child. The original doll was carved in wood which was then blackened and polished.
